3 Oil Companies Pull Out of Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

Three oil corporations have canceled their leases in Alaska’s Arctic Countrywide Wildlife Refuge. 

Drilling in the refuge has very long been a controversial situation, as the 19.5-million-acre wilderness spot is dwelling to 45 species of mammals including polar bears, bowhead whales and caribou and viewed as sacred by the Indigenous Gwich’in people, in accordance to the Gwich’in Steering Committee.
