Wolf stepped down Monday amid lawful turmoil more than his authority to lead the division. Numerous courts have dominated that Wolf was unlawfully serving as the performing secretary, which would imply that policies he accepted even though in the part could not legally continue to be in — or go into — impact.
Wolf’s resignation from the performing secretary part meant Federal Crisis Management Agency Administrator Peter Gaynor is serving as acting secretary in the closing days of the Trump administration. Even so, Wolf remained at the division in his Senate-confirmed undersecretary of plan job.
