Local law enforcement participate in torch run for Special Olympics

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The flame of hope is burning dazzling throughout Hampton Streets. On Wednesday, Virginia Seashore officers passed the torch to the Norfolk Sheriff’s Workplace as element of the law enforcement torch operate.
The legislation enforcement torch operate is the most significant fundraiser for the Exclusive Olympics. Members of the Norfolk Sheriff’s Business office together with other Norfolk law enforcement agencies took to the streets carrying the flame of hope.
The torch operate not only raises revenue for the Unique Olympics, it also raises recognition.
“There are people today in the group with mental disabilities that just want to get pleasure from lifestyle like any person else,” explained Norfolk Sheriff Joe Baron.
“[I’m] happy to be below, happy to enable out Special Olympics,” said Norfolk Law enforcement Sgt. Richard Creamer carrying the torch.
For Creamer, he said it was an honor to be included in the mile and a fifty percent operate.
“We introduced every person collectively to mail the concept to the Exclusive Olympics that we certainly treatment about them and when the operate ends at Waterside, the information goes on.”
